After the most amazing Maker Faire ever, there's no rest for us! Sylvia got out there and handed out her cards to at least 30 amazing makers and booth workers, and the response has been amazing. Her show skyrocketed from 10 views to over 30k in a little over 2 weeks! I guess that means we're vested! Now if only I was properly employed to support these all video shenanigans...

At long last the summer has given me another chance to redeem myself in aluminum (Why the summer.. when it would seem that copious amounts of heat and fire go better with winter).

Here I've finally documented almost the entire setup, from carving to placing in the sand, to pouring.. the only part I've left out is the finishing.. which really is just grinding and wire brushing.. not exactly prime time interesting...

I had a number more projects for this burn than the last.. and unfortunately raised the bar a little too high for one project: the Thing.

As we all know, old hard drives (and to a lesser extent, aluminum cans) are chock full of nearly pure aluminum. Also, as we all know, I don't have much money for projects, but after some research into lost foam casting, I have a new hobby. Burn baby burn....

I recently had to make a smaller website project for a client, and I figured I'd try and make everything by hand. I mean, why not? A full blown CMS seemed far too bloated for the relatively small feature-set expected. All I’d really need is a little php here, some javascript to server AJAX stuff there... What fun! Correcting for web printing on newsprint (sometimes colloquially referred to as toilet paper by printers) can sometimes be pretty difficult. Newsprint has one of the smallest printing gamut ranges, so getting your bright colors to output properly can be nigh impossible (Single image Gamut comparison chart) , not to mention all your midtones to shadows can muddy up like crazy if you don't reel them in a bit.
